Experts will explore how international law addresses these issues and the practical implications for activists and accountability across continents.

Roundtable | Gender and Environmental Rights: Exploring the Intersection in International Law

The central focus of this academic discussion will be the integration of gender and environmental issues into international law and activist practice, along with exploring how we can hold states accountable and establish effective normative frameworks across different continents.

  • María Eugenia Gabriel Ruiz, lawyer and member of the Red Solidaria de Derechos Humanos de Michoacán, human rights defender accompanied by PBI in Mexico
  • Dorthea Wabiser, Researcher and advocate, Pusaka - Indonesia
  • Elisa Morgera, Special Rapporteur on climate change, via a video message

Moderation: Anexa Alfred Cunnigham, lawyer and member for Latin America of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
